I began designing websites in the summer of 2014 before going off to college. As a former dancer, I have always been creative and creating websites provided me with an unexpected outlet.
I studied education and French at Butler University, and I am a licensed French teacher in both Indiana and Ohio. Education allowed me to continue harnessing my creativity in a new way and it is a profession that is very much focused on the user experience: what the students will get out of each lesson. As a French major, I had the opportunity to live and study in France for a semester. It is there that my language skills were perfected.
For the last two years I have been teaching English to French students in the city of Nantes. When I wasn't in the classroom, I was working on updating websites, creating new websites, and learning more about the world of web development and UX Design.
Since 2014, I have learned so much about this field. I have become an expert in using Wordpress, especially combined with the Oxygen plugin. I am learning about the more technical side of the field, in particular HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge.
I learn something new about design every day, and it excites me so much. I love putting together all of the pieces to create something that customers and users love. I know there is so much more to learn, and I'm excited for the process.
In 2014, I never could have predicted that my summer job would have brought me almost six years of experience and a real passion for the field. I know as I advance further I will have the opportunity to refine my current skills and to learn countless others. As I move ahead in my career, I'm looking forward to being a part of something spectacular.
