Arehart Consulting, LLC

The Problem

Arehart Consutling, LLC needed a complete website revamp. The CEO wanted a more modern homepage that highlighted key services and provided a way for customers to contact the company. They also wanted to provide a space for a blog in order to talk about some IT tips and tricks. Finally, there was a huge emphasis on Search Engine Optimization that would allow more potential customers to find Arehart Consulting, LLC.

the solution

After significant research into popular conventions and trends, I determined that it would be best to provide almost a summary of the rest of the site. The homepage would include a Hero image with links to the most important pages, key products/services, an About section, a link to the contact page, the most recent blog posts, and a contact form. These changes would be in addition to many new pages on the website and updated copy for almost all pages. Finally, I did extensive research into SEO best practices and how to best implement SEO on a WordPress site. In addition to learning about keywords, Alt Text, and adding both inside and outside links, I learned about the Yoast SEO plugin on WordPress that made it super easy to identify how readable a page was for a search engine and also how to edit the search engine snippet.

Based on current trends, I suggested to the CEO a redesign of the current website, built with a stronger plugin that allowed for more customization. The main thing considered was the menu layout. There were too many items in the Header Navigation bar so I was tasked with not only a brand new, updated design but also with a new way of organizing menus according to current patterns.

I narrowed it down to just 3 menu items in the Header, and then allowed for a more expanded view in the Footer. Many websites are moving towards this convention, including Amazon.com. When it is launched in the next month or two, this site will showcase new products and services offered by the company in addition to automated Previous/Next links and brand new color scheme that better reflects the company’s current branding.
